KABUL (FACS) on Wednesday asked the government and other stakeholders to refrain from attempts at manipulating the outcome of the April 5 elections.
FACS chief Sadiq Mansoor Ansari told reporters in Kabul the presidential and provincial council elections had been a success, which should be protected from being influenced by powerful elements.
He demanded stepped-up investigations into allegations of electoral fraud and legal action against those involved.
He urged President Karzai and the Independent Election Commission (IEC) to let the presidential election go to a second round if the situation demanded so.
The Constitution says if none of the presidential contenders obtains 50+1 percent of votes, the election goes to a second-round run-off between the top two candidates.
