Paktika elder killed in gun-and-suicide attack

KABUL (Pajhwok): A tribal elder was killed and three civilians injured in a gun-and-suicide attack in the Argun district of southeastern Paktika province on Friday, the governor’s house said.

The attacker first shot tribal elder Gul Babari Zadran with a pistol around 1pm in the district’s bazaar and then blew up explosives strapped to his body, killing the elder and injuring three other civilians, the governor’s house said in a statement.

Governor Mohibullah Samim condemned the attack as the handiwork of Afghanistan’s enemies.

The statement said Zadran had no government job and he had been active cooperating with the government in executing development activities.
