KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Two separate but near simultaneous bomb explosions rocked the capital of southeastern Khost province on Saturday, killing two policemen and injuring five others, an official said.

The first explosion happened near the Customs Department on the outskirts of Khost City, targeting a police vehicle, an official told Pajhwok Afghan News, wishing anonymity.

Two policemen in the vehicle died on the spot and a third was critically wounded, he said.

The second blast targeted a police check post near Paroja Bridge, west of Khost City, leaving four policemen injured, who were rushed to a local hospital.

Mubarez Mohammad Zadran, the governor’s spokesman, confirmed the casualties, but had no further details.

Dr. Abdul Majeed Mangal, Khost Civil Hospital director, said two dead bodies and five injured had been brought to the hospital.

There has been no claim of responsibility for the blasts.
