KHOST CTY (Pajhwok): Two civilians were killed and nine others wounded in a bomb explosion targeting a traffic police vehicle in the capital of southeastern Khost province on Monday, officials said.

The blast occurred around 4pm in the Boland Manzal area of Khost City, said Khost police chief Brig. Gen. Faizullah Ghairat.

He said the target was a traffic police pick up vehicle, but the personnel escaped unharmed in the blast that killed one civilian and injured nine others.

But a doctor at a private hospital (Babri Gul hospital) Malik Mir told Pajhwok Afghan News they had been delivered two dead bodies and seven injured from the scene.

He said an eighth person injured in the blast had been taken to another hospital. The injured brought to Babri Gul hospital were in stable condition, Mir said.

Giving an eyewitness account, Ghafoor, who sustained injuries in the blast, said he was walking on the road when the explosion occurred, knocking him unconscious.

No group has so far asserted responsibility for the blast.
