KUNDUZ CITY, MAIMANA (Pajhwok): At least seven militants, including a would-be suicide bomber, have been killed in northern Kunduz and northwestern Faryab provinces in different incidents, security officials said Monday.

Armed rebels mounted attack on police check post in Tobra Kash area of Kunduz City late last evening, leaving six insurgents dead, including a notorious commander Mula Khizar, Police Spokesman Sayyed Sarwar Husaini told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Two militants had been detained during the gun battle along with six Kalashnikovs, he added.

In another incident, a would-be suicide bomber was killed when the explosives he tied around his body detonated prematurely in Sherin Tagab district of Faryab province, Maj. Mohammad Raza Raza, spokesman of 209 Shaheen corps in the province said.

District administrative chief Sayyed Luqman Gahrik identified the would-be suicide bomber as Yamaq 18 who was planning to blow himself up in a crowded market in Sherin Tagab.
