GARDEZ (Pajhwok): An official informed on Tuesday hundreds development projects would be implemented through National Solidarity Programme (NSP) and Stability in Key Area (SIKA) in six districts of southeastern Paktia province.
First phase of NSP would be kicked off with the beginning of new Afghan calendar year in Zurmat, Janikhel and Wazi Zadran districts, rural rehabilitation and development director, Eng. Abdul Rahman Rahmani, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Hundreds of development schemes would be executed through NSP programme, with 370 local councils would be set up there to keep the projects forward, he added.
Rahmani said they were fully ready to launch second NSP phase in those districts, where first phase of the programme had already been carried out. During the ongoing year, about $ 7 million had been given to them for the purpose, he added.
The local official said they planned to conduct Stability in Key Areas (SIKA) programme in Syed Karam, Mirzaka and Zazi Aryub districts. Earlier, the programme had been implemented in six other districts of the province.
Haji Inzar, a tribal elder from Zurmat district, said they would extend all out support to keep the development programme forward satisfactorily.
However, he said development activities could not be taken forward in Zurmat district because of widespread mayhem and clashes.
