MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): Four public order policemen have been killed by militants in central Wardak province, an official said on Thursday.

Five policemen— serving in Kandahar— were on their way to Kabul when militants kidnapped them on Kabul-Kandahar highway in Sayedabad district of Wardak late last night, governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani told Pajhwok Afghan News.

However, one of the policeman managed to flee, he said, adding he believed the policeman who escaped from captivity was in collusion with militants.

Complete details would be surfaced once the investigation was completed into the incident, he added.

The Afghan forces security forces launched a massive manhunt to rescue the abducted policemen in which 12 suspected individuals had been detained, he informed. Six motorcycles and some ammunition had also been recovered during the operation, Khogyani added.

An official of the Red Crescent Society wish not to be named said that bodies of four individuals were found in Nakhi area of Syedabad district of Wardak.

Victims’ bodies would be handed over to their families today.

 Taliban claimed responsibility for the killing of policemen.
