1 child killed, 2 injured in Herat blast

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): One child was killed and two others critically wounded when an unexploded mortar shell they were playing with went off in western Herat province, an official said on Friday.

The blast took place on Thursday evening in Radoigaz area of Adreskan district, Lal Mohammad Umarzai, the district chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The children were playing with the shell when it exploded, killing one of them on the spot and critically injuring two others, who had been taken to a nearby hospital, he added.

He said the injured kids were said to be in critical condition.
