KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Monday said the vote recount process would be complete on Tuesday and a third batch of partial results would be announced soon.
IEC spokesman Noor Mohammad Noor told reporters in Kabul that auditing and recounting of votes at most polling centres would be accomplished until tomorrow and the outcome would be shared with the IEC main office in order to incorporate the results into its data system.
The IEC had ordered a recount of votes in 500 polling stations across the country.
About the partial results, Noor warned the frontrunner could change as the vote count had not yet finished and half of the votes were yet to be tallied.
He said the commission was striving to announce a third batch of partial results soon and denied to predict a runoff until the final results were announced.
However, the Wolesi Jirga and presidential candidate Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai earlier in the day asked the IEC to stop releasing further results until fraudulent votes were separated from valid ones.
