KABUL (Pajhwok): Deputy Works Minister Ahmad Shah Wahid has been rescued from his kidnappers by police, the Ministry of Interior said on Wednesday.
Kidnapped by unknown gunmen from his home to office in Kabul last week, Wahid was set free by his abductors late on Wednesday night as a result of efforts by the police, MoI spokesman Sadiq Siddique told Pajhwok Afghan News.
However, he did not provide further details. Another official in his ministry said Wahid was set free in central Kapisa province.
Kapisa police chief Khwaja Faqir Ahmad Siddique told Pajhwok the deputy minister was found in the Nijrab district around 8:30pm.
He said Wahid was found in a car blindfolded with his hands tied. He said the kidnappers had escaped and they wanted to drive Wahid from Nijrab into Tagab district.
