Pachiragam education officer kidnapped

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen on Monday kidnapped the education director of Pachiragam district in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said.

Mohammad Asif Shinwari, an official at the provincial education department, told Pajhwok Afghan News the district education director, Laloon, was kidnapped early in the morning.

The abducted official has been serving in the district for the last four years. “Laloon’s home is in Jalalabad, the provincial capital. He used to travel to the district daily for duty,” Shinwari added.

Laloon stayed for the night with a colleague, also serving in the education department, in Gherikhelo area and was on his way to a mosque for morning prayers when kidnapped.

A security official in Pachiragam district, confirming the incident, said efforts were being made to secure early release of the kidnapped official.

Laloon had earlier served in Batikot, Rodat, Moman Dara and other districts as education officer.
