JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The education officer for the Pachiragam district of eastern Nangarhar province has been rescued from captors, an official said on Tuesday.
Laloon, who stayed with a colleague in Gherikhe area, had been kidnapped by unidentified gunmen on his way to a mosque for morning prayers.
Mohammad Asif Shinwari, an official at the education department, told Pajhwok Afghan News Laloon was set free following mediation by tribal elders. The kidnappers allegedly tortured him during captivity.
Laloon has served in Batikot, Rodat, Momand Dara and other districts as education officer.
