MAHMOODRAQI (Pajhwok): Two rebel leaders have been killed along with four associates during an operation in the Najrab district of central Kapisa province, an official said on Tuesday.
Launched three days ago, the operation in Afghania and Ghain valleys has ended, police spokesman Maj. Humayoun Rashidi told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said two rebel leaders Mullah Fazlullah and Mullah Najib were killed in the offensive, which left an Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier and a local police member injured.
Resident Lutfullah Zakiri claimed a two-year-old child and a schoolteacher had been killed and 19 civilians, including women and children, injured in the offensive. But officials rejected the allegation as baseless.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said four policemen were killed and seven others wounded as their armored vehicles were hit by bombs.
