HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Two policemen and a Taliban commander have been killed in separate security incidents in western Herat province, an official said on Wednesday.

Two policemen were killed and three others wounded late on Tuesday when a roadside bomb struck their pick-up in Zinda Jan district, the police spokesman said.

Abdur Rauf Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan News an investigation into the incident was underway.

He said a Taliban commander, Mullah Lalai, was killed during a clash with police in Shindand district this morning. Police suffered no casualties in the clash.

Five individuals carrying illegal weapons and three people selling alcoholic beverages were detained during an operation in Injil district.
