Pak seminaries linked to Afghan attacks: Dobbins

KABUL, a top US diplomat alleged on Thursday.

US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan James Dobbins also blasted Islamabad for failing to take appropriate measures to curb the menace of terrorism.

During a congressional hearing on Afghanistan, the envoy told lawmakers relations between Pakistan and the US had become “abysmally low and gravely worst”.

At the same time, he acknowledged Pakistan’s role in resolving the Afghan crisis was instrumental. Pak-US relations lacked mutual confidence, he said, calling the trust deficit a grave crisis. He said that both the countries had shared trade, economic, social and security interests.

Speaking to Pakistan’s state-run television, Dobbins said India was concerned about cross-border militancy and terrorist attacks from Pakistan’s soil.

“I think as is the case with Afghanistan, this is something that is in everybody’s interest. I think all of the states of the region need to avoid employing militancy as an instrument of policy,” he said.
