AIDAN SHAHAR (Pajhwok): At least four militants have been killed and two others wounded in an ongoing offensive in central Maidan Wardak province, the governor’s spokesman said on Friday.

Attaullah Khogyani told Pajhwok Afghan News that the operation involving Afghan security forces was underway in parts of Shadi Kala and Sayedabad districts.

Security forces recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition from rebels during the cleanup offensive, he added. However, security personnel remained unhurt during the clashes.

The offensive, he said, had been launched to bolster security for the looming run-off vote. The militants are yet to comment on the operation.
