Afghan shuttlers off to India for Thomas Cup

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghan badminton team on Saturday left Kabul for India to take part in Thomas Cup, the National Olympic Committee said.

The Committee said in a statement the badminton squad would participate in Thomas Cup in New Delhi, the Indian capital.

Badminton players from around 30 countries, including Afghanistan and India, would participate in the event.

The maiden edition of Thomas Cup — Men’s World’s World Team Championships in 1956-57.

The 2014 edition, the prestigious biennial team championships, and Uber Cup finals will be hosted by New Delhi from May 18 to 25.
