KABUL (Pajhwok): A dozen Pakistani security personnel were killed on Thursday in a bomb attack in the tribal region of North Waziristan, the military said.
The remote-controlled bomb hit a convoy of security forces exploded in Ghulam Khan sub-district near the Afghanistan border.
A statement from the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said more security personnel immediately reached the site and started a search operation.
The victims were shifted to a nearby hospital following the blast that happened at around 10:30am. A curfew has been imposed in the area, where gunship helicopters shelled militant hideouts.
A day earlier, five militants were killed and three injured as clashes between two factions of the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban (TTP) continued in Waziristan.
The fighting erupted between the groups led by Shahryar and Khan Said in Shawal area. The insurgents killed were from the Shahryar group. Rockets and mortars were used by both sides.
