KABUL (Pajhwok): Fifteen militants have been killed, a dozen wounded and some others detained in separate incidents in different parts of the country, officials said on Saturday.

Six fighters were killed and four others captured during an Afghan-International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) operation in the Goshta district of eastern Nangarhar province.

Police spokesman Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal told Pajhwok Afghan News the insurgents were killed while travelling in a car. Four of them were captured in Dawarkhel area.

He claimed the detainees were Pakistanis, who had entered Afghanistan had come there to collect Ushr.

Separately, eight insurgents were killed and one wounded in central Maidan Wardak province, the governor’s spokesman said.

Attaullah Khogyani said five rebels including a commander were killed in a security operation in the Duab Tangi area of Syedabad district. Two militants were arrested.

Three Taliban, including their local leader, were killed during a clash with Hezb-i-Islami Afghanistan (HIA) fighters in Nirkh district, Khogyani added.

In Nimroz, an official of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) was killed and a policeman injured in a bomb blast.

Governor Amir Mohammad Akhundzada confirmed the incident in the fifth municipality district of Zaranj.

Separately, two civilian including a woman were injured in a mortar attack and bomb blast in southern Helmand province.
