MAHMOD RAQI (Pajhwok): At least one hundred Afghan Local Police (ALP) members have been deployed to ensure security for the second round of presidential election in Ala-Sayee district of central Kapisa province, an official said Wednesday.

Khwaja Faqir Ahmad Sadiqui, provincial police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News ALP members belonged to the district who would help maintain security for run-off polls in Ala-Sayee.

He expressed optimism most areas of the district would be cleared of militants with the deployment of ALP members.

Noor Muhammad Hanifi, director Independent Election Commission (IEC), said his department had kept ready the needed election materials for Kapisa.

He assured election would be held in every part of the province where security had been beefed.
