MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Authorities on Saturday disbursed food and non-food items among flood affected families in northwestern Faryab province.
Provided by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the aid included around 8,500 blankets, 200 tents and food items including flour, sugar, oil and other items.
Governor Mohammadullah Batash told Pajhwok Afghan News that investigations into irregularities during food distribution had been lunched.
Police resorted to baton charged women when disorder erupted at the aid distribution centre.
A 70 years old woman, beaten by police, said that the aid distribution process was not transparent and the officials assigned to disburse the items had preferred their relatives.
Asadullah, a resident of Khwaja Abad locality, alleged Wolesi Jirga member Fauzia Raufi of massive fraud in aid distribution process.
