GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): A district police chief was killed along with three others colleagues as a result of a bomb blast in southern Ghazni province on Thursday, an official said.
The blast took place in the Syedwalo locality of the district at 8am, the governor’s spokesman, Shafique Nang, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the dead included Qasim Khan, the Waghaz district police chief, and a fifth police officer was injured in the blast.
Waghaz district administrative chief Mohammad Azam said the bomb had been planted on the side of a road in the area and went off after the police officers attempted to defuse it.
The injured police official had been shifted to hospital, he said.
