MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): At least 13 militants have been killed and seven others wounded in anti-insurgents offensive launched by the Afghan security forces in the Sayed Abad district in central Maidan Wardak province, the governor’s spokesman said on Friday.
Attaullah Khogyani told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants were gathered in an orchard planning attacks who came under security forces onslaught in Sultankhelo area on the outskirts of the district.
One policeman killed and three others injured when the security forces and militants exchanged heavy gun fire. A large number of weapons of different brands had also been recovered from the insurgents after the gun battle, he added.
A number of rebels commanders were among the slain insurgents allegedly involved in attacks on security forces and other sabotage acts, he said, adding civilians suffered no casualties during the fire fight.
Taliban did not specifically comment on the operation but said that militants had inflicted heavy men and material losses on security forces in the area the other day.
