CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): Gunmen attacked a wedding party in central Parwan province, killing three guests and wounding 17 others, police said on Friday.
Police chief Brig. Gen. Khalilullah Ziaee told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place on Thursday night and the attackers were laced with hand grenades and assault rifles.
The motive behind the attack was not immediately known, but an investigation had been opened to divulge the facts, he said.
A doctor at Parwan Civil Hospital, Muhammad Ishaq Nasimi, confirmed receiving 24 wounded persons at the hospital, saying six critically injured had been referred to Kabul for treatment.
Javed, who sustained injuries in the attack, said: “Someone lobbed hand grenade at the wedding guests at around 1:00am last night, and it was followed by an intense gunfire, which left several people killed and injured.”
