GHAZNI CITY/ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Two children were killed and three others from the same family were wounded on Sunday when a mortar shell allegedly fired by Taliban militants hit a house in the Qarah Bagh district of southern Ghazni province.

The Taliban fired mortar shells at security forces during a clash and one of the shells hit a house in the afternoon, killing one child and wounding four others members of the family, the district chief said.

Fazl Rahman Nazarwal said the injured — two children and two women — were taken to the district hospital for treatment.

However, a resident of the area, Rahimullah, told Pajhwok Afghan News a second child wounded in the incident had also died in hospital.

In eastern Kunar province, four militants were killed in a NATO drone strike in the Watapur district on Sunday afternoon.

Kunar police chief Abdul Habib Syekhel said the drone strike took place at 2pm in the Sapari area. Civilians suffered no casualties in the attack, he said.
