MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Sixteen people were wounded in a bomb explosion near the Hazrat Ali (RA) mausoleum in the capital of northern Balkh province on Monday, an official said.

The blast occurred in front of Tahiri Business Centre east of the mausoleum in Mazar-i-Sharif at 11am, Balkh police chief Brig. Gen. Abdur Rahman told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Six of the injured were evacuated to hospital, but a doctor at the emergency ward said 16 injured individuals including womeninfo-icon and children had been brought to the healthinfo-icon facility.

Eyewitness Yasin said the explosion resulted from a magnet bomb attached to a vehicle. He saw a number of wounded people transported to hospital.
