KABUL would consider options to counter Pakistani rocket attacks if the issue was not resolved through diplomatic channels.

MoFA spokesman Ahmad Shakib Mustaghni told reporters in Kabul Pakistani troops had fired rockets into Afghanistan on Election Day but Afghan forces had deployed to protect the democratic exercise.

Pakistan did not honour its pledges of all-out support for the peaceful conduct ballot, the spokesman deplored.

The governor of eastern Kunar province also alleged the Pakistani military had fired 20 rockets, resulting in civilian casualties and damaging properties.

Pakistan’s chargé d’affaires had been summoned to the MoFA and a strong protest was lodged with him over the cross-border shelling, he added.

Regarding the refugees coming from North Waziristan to southeastern Khost province, the spokesman said Afghanistan welcomed hundreds of refugee families in the wake of an ongoing offensive there.
