KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The draft anti-money laundering law, already approved by the Wolesi Jirga, would be placed before the Meshrano Jirgainfo-icon next week for endorsement, an official said on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Justice drafted the anti-money laundering law. Lower house members voted 139-1 for the measures on Monday.

The draft law, containing 10 chapters and 70 articles, had been under debate in the Wolesi Jirgainfo-icon for three days.

Senate Chairman Fazal Hadi Muslimyar said upper house commissions were discussing technical aspects of the draft law, which would be presented to lawmakers for a debate on Saturday or Sunday.

“We are trying to deal with the suggested law in haste. But we cannot sacrifice people’s interests for the sake of a handful of resourceful individuals. We would do all we can to pass it soon,” he remarked.
