KABUL (HPC) secretary Masoom Stanikzai, saying such cowardly acts would not deter Afghans from achieving peace and stability in their country.

A suicide bomber attacked a vehicle carrying Stanikzai in front of the Dawat University in the fifth police district of Kabul City. Stanikzai survived the blast that killed one civilian and injured three others.

Kabul police spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai told Pajhwok Afghan News the injured had been taken to hospital, but he had no information about the extent of their injuries.

A statement issued from the Presidential Palace quoted President Karzai as saying that the people and the government of Afghanistan would continue their efforts to bring peace and stability to the country.

Karzai extended condolences to the family of the slain individual and prayed for early recovery of those injured in the attack.

Meanwhile, the HPC also condemned the attack on Stanikzai. In a statement, the HPC said the enemies of Afghanistan wanted to disrupt the peace campaign which was about to reach its destination.

The council said Stanikzai would continue his job with a renewed determination to carry forward the peace caravan.  Nothing could stop the council from its efforts to achieve peace and bring stability to the Afghans, the peace body said.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack on Stanikzai
