KABUL/JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Six Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers and dozens of insurgents have been killed in the last 24 hours in different parts of the country, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said on Sunday.
The deaths were announced in a brief statement from the ministry, which did not mention the exact locations where the clashes took place.
Separately, a civilian was wounded during an overnight attack on the Jalalabad airport, the governor’s spokesman, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the militants attacked the main check-post in front of the airport with hand grenades. Security forces did not suffer causalities during the attack, he added.
As usual, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the assault. The group said several security personnel were killed and precious equipment destroyed.
