KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): British Lt. Gen. John G. Lorimer handed over the position of International Security Assistance Force (ISAFinfo-icon) deputy commander, to German Army Lt. Gen. Carsten Jacobson.

Lorimer served as ISAF deputy commander from July 9, 2013 to June 25, 2014. He will assume the appointment of chief joint operations at the Permanent Joint Headquarters in Northwood, according to a statement from ISAF.

Jacobson handed Lorimer a book on the history of 3rd United Kingdom Division, which Lorimer commanded before his ISAF deployment. He thanked him for the excellent handover by saying: “As so often in the past between our nations, we are working best when we are standing side by side.”

Jacobson served as the ISAF Spokesman from June 2011 to June 2012. From June 2012 to May 28, 2014 he assumed command of 1st Panzerdivision in Hannover, Germany.

“I am delighted to return to Afghanistaninfo-icon to take up the appointment of Deputy Commander International Security Assistance Force,” said Lt. Gen. Jacobson. “I look forward to working closely with our Afghan partners and the men and womeninfo-icon in ISAF.”
