KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Police have gunned down a provincial council member in southern Kandahar province, an official said on Tuesday.
The predawn incident occurred in the forth municipality district of Kandahar City, the provincial capital, police spokesman Zia Durrani told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Khan Mohammad Afghan, the victim, was on his way home when he was fired upon by a policeman, Durrani said. The man was shifted in critical condition to hospital where he succumbed to his to injuries.
The policeman had been taken into custody and was being investigated, Durrani added. Khan Mohammad Afghan won the April 5 provincial council election.
