QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): At least three people have been killed and three others injured in a clash between two tribes in the Muqur district of northwestern Badghis province, an official said Thursday.

The firefight erupted over the ownership of a pistachio jungle in the Chalgazi locality between Laghari and Mahmaka tribes, Agriculture Director Hafizullah Benish told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The official said three people from the Laghari tribe had died in the overnight clash, which left five men wounded.

Mohammad Ibrahim Mohammadi, the civil hospital director, confirmed receiving the five wounded people, two of them in critical condition.

The agriculture director said the pistachio forest was a public property and everyone had the right to benefit from it.
