ZARANJ (Pajhwok): Work on asphalting a 21-kilometre road, benefitting a large number of residents, was launched in southwestern Nimroz province on Saturday, an official said.

Governor Amir Mohammad Akhundzada told Pajhwok Afghan News the road was in dilapidated condition following heavy floods and its completion would take some time.

The project would cost 250 million afghanis provided by the Ministry of Public Works, he added. Work on the project was officially started today and it would take one year to be completed.

After completion, the road would boost economic and business activities in the area, benefitting thousands of families. The road starts from Zaranj, the provincial capital, and ends in the Sarband area of Chaharbarak district.
