KABUL (Pajhwok): Ahmad Wali Masood, leader of Milli Agenda Conference (MAC), claimed on Wednesday his party had first floated the idea regarding the formation of a national unity government.

Addressing a press conference here, Masood said MAC had presented the suggestion months before US Secretary of State John Kerry intervened to resolve the electoral deadlock.

This type of government is not merely meant to share power but to form a strong government, according to the MAC leader, who stressed both presidential candidates must abide by this principle.

The youngest brother of Ahmad Shah Masood, the slain Afghan resistance fighter, said a government of national unity was the only way to take Afghanistan out of current crisis.
