India’s Independence Day celebrated

KABUL (Pajhwok): India’s 68th Independence Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at the Indian Embassy in Kabul on Friday.

Ambassador Amar Sinha hoisted the Indian flag at the newly constructed embassy complex in Kabul at a colorful function, attended by the local Indian community.   

According to a statement from the Indian Embassy, the diplomat read out the president’s address to the nation besides highlighting the main points of the prime minister’s speech from the Red Fort.

He particularly mentioned the premier’s emphasis on good governance, constructive partnership between citizens and state, concerted efforts for cleanliness, creating model villages, elimination of poverty and respect for women.

On the occasion, the Embassy of India also played a friendly cricket match with the Afghanistan Cricket Board team at the Ghazi Stadium in Kabul.
