JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A woman was killed and seven other people sustained injuries on Monday morning when a suicide bomber blew himself up in front of a health clinic in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said.
The incident took place in the Ghanikhel district on the Jalalabad-Torkham highway at about 8:30 am, the governor’s spokesman, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The injured included a girl, a woman and an Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier, he said, adding the injured were being treated and their condition was said to be stable.
However, the Ministry of Interior said two people had been killed in the incident.
Zahir Khan, an eyewitness, said the suicide bomber targeted an ANA vehicle parked in front of the health clinic. Most of the injured were patients visiting the clinic.
No one has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
