KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani has said solving problems in all provinces at once is not possible, but gradual and continued improvement would help overcome them.
The president was talking to lawmakers from Paktia, Paktika, Khost, Ghazni and Logar provinces on Tuesday evening, a statement from the Presidential Palace said on Wednesday. The MPs raised their concerns over endemic administrative corruption, insecurity and problems in the education sector. They also called for development projects’implementation, work for reforms and ensuring good governance and building hydropower dams and airports in the southeastern and central provinces.
President Ghani told them his government would continue holding meetings with parliament members on problems in their provinces and finding solution to them.
However, the president said immediately addressing problems in all the 34 provinces was not possible all at once and therefore the government would gradually deal with them by making efforts at fundamental and continued reforms.
“If we want change then we should advance with care. Our plan is to bring about fundamental changes not cosmetic,” he told the lawmakers, stressing increased coordination and cooperation among the three pillars of the state.
