Gen. Campbell, Raheel discuss border security

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Top NATOinfo-icon and Pakistani military commanders have discussed the need for coordination on the issue of security along the Durand Lineinfo-icon.

International Security Assistance Force (ISAFinfo-icon) commander Gen. John Campbell and Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif also conferred on the ongoing military offensive in North Waziristan.

During their meeting in Islamabad on Thursday, the two generals also exchanged views on the regional security situation. US troops are transitioning security to Afghan forces as they are drawing down.

Without giving details, a brief statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said both commanders discussed matters of mutual interest.

Earlier this week, ISAF troops ‘ceased their colours’, ending their combat command in Afghanistaninfo-icon and handing over control to Afghan security forces.
