18 rebels dead in Paktika airstrike

SHARAN (Pajhwok): Eighteen militants were killed in foreign forces airstrike in Gayan district of southeastern Paktika province on Saturday, police said.

Nisar Ahmad Abdul Rahimzai, a senior police official, told Pajhwok Afghan News the air assault was carried out in Gayan village of the district at around 6: 30 am.

Foreign militants were also among the dead rebels, he added. A tribal elder wishing anonymity said he heard gun shots and blast but had no details into casualties.

Militants have not yet spoken on the attack. Gayan is an insecure district rife with militants. On Friday, security forces targeted an explosive laden-motorbike in Barmal district before it could reach the target.
