KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The office of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on Tuesday said consultation about the creation of electoral reforms commission has been finalised and the body will be announced through a presidential decree soon.

Reformation of system and rebuilding of election commissions were the main elements of agreements between President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah.

According to an earlier agreement between the two leaders, the president was bound to issue a decree for the creation of a commission which would work out a draft for possible reforms in the electoral bodies and submit it to the president.

But Javed Faisal, the CEO spokesman told Pajhwok Afghan News the creation of commission was being postponed for presidential decree. He said CEO Abdullah had sent the names of its nominees for the commission to the presidential palace.

Faisal said the functional areas and duration of commission has been finalised in the presence of civil societyinfo-icon members and election monitoring institutions.

The second vice president office has said that President Ghani may issue decree regarding the formation of electoral reform commission at the end of this week.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Yousef Rashid, executive director of Free Fair Election Foundation (FEFA), stressed upon early formation of electoral reforms commission and urged for the nomination of neutral individuals.
