SHARANA (Pajhwok): New playgrounds have been constructed for ten schools in southeastern Paktika province, an official said on Sunday.
Provincial Rural Development Director Mohammad Momin Khan told Pajhwok Afghan News the playgrounds in Yousafkhel district and Sharana, the provincial capital, were constructed to meet local people’s demand.
Funds for the projects had been provided by the provincial Rural Development Department and the USAID-funded Stability in Key Areas (SIKA) programme, he said.
The official said under SIKA programme, work on more reconstruction projects had been launched and the playgrounds were part of the process.
Deputy Education had been formally included as a subject in curriculum and construction of playgrounds was highly important.
He asked SIKA programme officials to help construct playgrounds in others provinces as well.
