ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Armed militants stormed a police post on the boundary between eastern Nuristan and Kunar provinces and the ensuing fight left two insurgents dead and as many wounded, a police officer said on Tuesday.
Brig. Gen. Abdul Habib Syedkhel, the Kunar police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the check post was situated in Chappa Dara district. He said the militants’ corpses were still laying at the scene.
The clash, he said, had ended with the situation in security forces’ control as reinforcements had been dispatched there.
But Taliban claimed killing seven policemen and wiping out the security post during the gunfight. They said five ANA soldiers were killed and their armoured vehicle destroyed when insurgents attacked a military convoy heading toward Chappa Dara area.
