2 passengers dead, 29 hurt in Herat traffic mishap

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Two persons were killed and 29 others wounded in a traffic accident on Herat-Farah Highway, officials said Tuesday.

Ehsan Hayat, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the crash took place in Urya locality of Adraskan district at around 4: 00 am early this morning.

The tragic misshaped occurred when a 303 model bus moving from Herat province to Farah veered off road, he said, adding that seven of the wounded persons were in critical condition.

Police reached the area and evacuated the wounded to a hospital for treatment. Hayat blamed the accident on negligence by driver. Police were investigating the mishap.

Mohammad Rafiq, spokesman of Herat zonal hospital, confirmed receiving 13 wounded.
