JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Costing $400,000, two projects were completed while work on a third scheme was launched in eastern Nangarhar province on Wednesday, the mayor said.

Lal Agha Kakar told Pajhwok Afghan News the two UN-funded development projects had been completed in the second municipality district of the provincial capital.

The first project included construction of a water-channel, link roads and small bridges. People of the locality contributed to the projects. He asked locals to share responsibility to keep the projects intact.

Izzatullah, a resident of the second municipality district, hoped completion of the schemes would help resolve problems of the people.

Similarly, an agreement was signed with a Japanese company on the construction of water canal in Nangarhar.

Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, the governor’s spokesman, said the canal would be built in lower Kunar district. Governor Maulvi Attaullah Ludin inked the agreement with the Peace Medical Service (PMS) Company, he informed.
