2 security forces, 10 rebels dead in Kamdish fight

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said on Saturday that hundreds of militants carried out coordinated attack on Kamdish district of eastern Nuristan, and the ensuing battle left two Afghan security forces and 10 militants dead.

The militants attack had been repulsed by the Afghan security forces.

MoD Spokesman Gen. Zahir Azimi told Pajhwok Afghan News that militants launched brazen attacks on Afghan National Army (ANA) bases in Mess area of Kamdish district.

Nuristan Governor Hafiz Abdul Qayyum told Pajhwok Afghan News that insurgents carried out simultaneous attack on Baghicho, Chinar Khurr and Gordbish check posts of Afghan National Army (ANA).

He confirmed 10 rebels had been killed in the showdown and their corpses were still lying in the area. Over 20 insurgents injured in the firefight, he added.

The insurgents had been pushed back. However, Taliban did not comment on the clash in the district.
