CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): At least 26 inmates were injured as result of a rocket attack on the Bagram prison in central Parwan province, an official said on Saturday.

The incident took place on Friday afternoon when some rockets fired by militants landed at the Bagram airfield, Ministry of Defence (MoD) spokesman Gen. Zahir Azimi said.

Parwan police chief Brig. Gen. Mohammad Zaman Mamozai told Pajhwok Afghan News the wounded were under treatment and their condition was stable. The rockets were fired from the mountains of Qarabagh district.

A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed the incident but expressed sorrow over inmates injury. He said that American forces were responsible for inmates’ damages because they were kept there irresponsbily.

“We ask international human rights organizations to investigate American forces’ illegal jails to prevent inmates casualties,” he added.
