PARAKH (Pajhwok): Three more persons have been died as a result of avalanches in Abshar district of central Panjsher and norhtern Baghlan provinces, officials said Monday.
Panjsher acting Governor Abdul Rahman Kabiri told Pajhwok Afghan News two persons were died in avalanche in Astana area of the district on Sunday.
He said that 14 other persons including women and children wounded in blizzards Qul Pari and Hail Shafi areas of the district. The wounded would yet to shift to hospital for treatment as helicopter could not land, he added.
“The injured persons can lose their lives if not taken to hospital on time,” Kabiri said.
The latest casualties took place at a time when a total of over 200 persons died in avalanches in Panjsher province last week.
Kabiri said that 196 bodies have been recovered while three bodies still missing in Tul area of Paryan district.
He added that emergency aid to the affected families in Arwi, Kujan and Khawak areas of Paryan district and in Landor area of Hesa Awal district was being distributed.
Accordign to another report a man died in avalanche in Khanjan district of Baghlan province.
Nasir Ahmad Kahzad, director natural disaster management authority, said that the incident took place when an avalanche burried a house in Bajga valley.
He said that the route leading to the valley was blocked but reopened by Rural Rehabilitation and Development workers.
