JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Police detained three alleged drug smugglers and recovered 90 kilograms of narcotics from their possession during separate raids in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Thursday.
Police chief Brig Gen Fazl Ahmad Sherzad told Pajhwok Afghan News 70kg of opium were confiscated during an operation in Deh Bala district. Two suspects were arrested in connection with the drugs.
Another 20kg of hashish were recovered from a man who was arrested during a separate operation in Jalalabad, the provincial capital.
Sherzad said hundreds of kilograms of narcotics were seized and several smugglers arrested last year.
