LASHKARGAH/JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Three Taliban insurgents were killed and eight others wounded during clashes with security forces in Helmand and Nangarhar provinces, officials said on Monday.
The insurgents stormed a police post in the Greshk town of southern Helmand province on Sunday night, police spokesman Farid Ahmad Obaid told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Three attackers were killed and four others wounded after the police returned fire in the Haiderabad area, he said.
In eastern Nangarhar province, four militants were injured during a clash with police in the Nazian district on Sunday night, local police spokesman Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The clash in Ghazgi area erupted after the rebels attacked a police patrol.
In a separate incident, police recovered an arms cache from a house during a search operation in the Batikot district, said the police spokesman, who did not say if anyone was detained in connection with the discovery.
